Mozilla has released Firefox 3 beta 5. The software includes various bugfixes and improvements to artwork and performance. Similar to the other former released version, this build is robust and almost being ready for widespread use.

The Firefox 3 beta 5 release can be downloaded from the Mozilla website and additional information is available in the release notes.

The feature of firefox 3 is frozen right now. As a result, there are not a lot of critical or highly visible differences in beta 5 comparing with beta 4. At this time, most of the work is designed to fixing regressions and polishing the user experience. However, there are still some significant issues with varying levels of severity in beta 5. For example, there is the issue of rendering glitches in GMail, and RSS support.

The removal of support for cross-site Xml Http Request support is considered to be a special big disappointment in Firefox 3 beta 5. The developers of Mozilla decide to defer this feature until the improvement of the security model can be made and the specification is more completed.
